Adv. Gerrie Nel, Head of AfriForum\u2019s Private Prosecution Unit, announced today that he and his team withdrew from the judicial inquest into the death of Reshall Jimmy. Jimmy died in December\u00a02015 when the Ford Kuga he was driving burst into flames. Nel led the inquest into Jimmy\u2019s death on behalf of the Jimmy family.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThe interest of the family was appropriately dealt with and we are satisfied that the inquest is proceeding in a way that justice will prevail,\u201d says Andrew Leask, Investigator at AfriForum\u2019s Private Prosecution Unit.<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Judge Robert Henney indicated that he wanted to hear more witnesses and would then conclude the inquest in order to make his findings. Judge Henney also thanked AfriForum\u2019s team for assisting the Court in this matter.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe took on this matter with, amongst others, the aim of dispelling baseless rumours and are now convinced that the evidence led thus far excludes any indication linking the death of the deceased to any criminality or suicide, or that Jimmy was murdered \u2013 as was rumoured at the commencement of the inquest,\u201d says Leask.<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The Jimmy family will attend proceedings whenever possible and Nel and his team will be available to offer further assistance and formal attendance when required.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
